Recycling is a part of actively caring for our environment.

Recycling reduces waste going to the landfill and conserves energy by reducing what we throw away and returning valuable materials for reuse.

Many types of paper can be combined in a Mixed Paper container. Cardboard, office paper, phone books, computer paper, books, magazines, spiral notebooks, envelopes, and other papers.

Single Stream

Many items found in commercial waste can be recycled.

  • All types of paper including cardboard boxes
  • Aluminum cans
  • Tin cans
  • Plastic containers type 1-7
  • Glass jars and bottles

Recyclable materials are collected and delivered to recycling facilities for futher processing. Providing an additional container for recyclables is sometimes actually less expensive overall, because savings are realized in reduced trash pickup and disposal fees when your recyclables are removed from the trash and recycled.

Single Stream Recycling Program

Our recycling program is voluntary and it is simple to participate. Just follow the instructions as outlined. In some cities recycling is included with the cost of trash disposal, in most areas there is a small fee for the cart and monthly collection.

  • Recyclables do not need to be sorted. Plastic bags pose a problem at the sorting facility where your recyclables are separated for distribution to end markets. Bags tangle in the machinery, and can actually harm the equipment.
  • Download the quick reference guide to print and place by your recycle bin.
  • Collect the recyclables and place them together in your tan recycle cart:
    • Glass jars and bottles
    • Aluminum and tin cans
    • Plastic containers 1 - 7
    • Plastic containers that have a recycling symbol from 1 – 7 on the bottom are acceptable. This includes most milk jugs, pop bottles, food and soap bottles. Unmarked plastics, plastic bags, and any other kind of plastics are not acceptable. Empty your recyclables and rinse. Labels do not need to be removed. Remove caps, lids, and rings.
    • Newspapers, cardboard, junk mail, books, phone books, papers of all kinds cereal boxes and other similar boxes. Remove plastic bags. Paper must be clean and dry.

  • Certain items can actually contaminate the material collected and make it unusable for recycling. Please do not include these items in the blue bags.
    • Aerosol cans
    • Other metals other than those listed
    • Plastic bags
    • Batteries
    • Oil or Paint Cans
    • Hazardous Chemicals
    • Ceramics
    • Crystal
    • Glass windows
    • Mirrors
    • Windshields

No plastic bags, please!

By 6:00 AM on recyclables pickup day, place your cart at the curbside. Please note that your recycle collection day may be a different day than your trash pickup day.

Your recyclables are then taken to a processing center where they are sorted.
